This book is a translation of a work by an early Sufi Shaikh and founder of one of the largest Sufi orders in the Muslim world. On reading it it is no surprise the popularity of the order. One of the most remarkable things about the Muslim religion (And one of the things I feel that becomes lost on some of the modern Muslims who seem attracted to Sufism) Is its simplicity. There are quite simple rules to follow (Pray, fast, belief in God etc) simple beliefs of Islam. The book, simply put is written for the person who feels an emptiness in life and is seeking the answers to fill that void in life. Shaikh Gilani points the way not only with the simple forms of Islam but also just what the benefits are with following them. How holding to these principles and putting them into practice in a persons daily life (The prayers, remembrance of God etc) A person can be raised spiritually to a point of closeness to God and distance from those who would harm him/her spiritually. The translator has done an excellent job and while I have not read the translation by Muhtar Holland I fail to see how it could be an improvement on this one. There is an excellent introduction to the book and to the life of the Shaikh provided. –Gogol on March 8, 2010

A Spiritual text written by famous Spiritual Sufi Teacher known as Shaykh Abdul Qadr Gilani. This is a great spiritual text that looks into the spiritual teachings of the Sufi Tradition! –Prince of Peace on September 1, 2014

I enjoy the content, but the printing is a little different – expect to find a small font , some places erased , looks old inside . Also, Secrets of Secrets is way more interesting & insightful. This work, no doubt is good, but looks more like an imam’s preach. It is also similar to basic teaching of Imam al Ghazali (Beginning of guidance). For more advanced, check Secret of Secrets. –Georgiana
